Congregation Beth Shalom of Napa, a small Reform congregation, is looking for a dynamic, energetic, and outgoing Part Time Youth Leader for immediate hire. Under the direction of the Synagogue/Education Director, you will be charged with overseeing the day-to-day interactions with the youth of the synagogue in the various programs they partake in. The position provides many opportunities to gain skills in diverse areas of Jewish/non-profit professional life. The Youth Leader will have a hand in the running of programs for Shorashim (birth to age 5), Religious School (K-7th grade), Jr. Youth Group (6-9th grade), Youth Group (10-12th grade), and Hebrew High (8-12th grade).

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the Sunday Religious School and Special Programs
Be a point of contact for Religious School Teachers and Madrichim
Set up and oversee Shorashim program
Lead the Youth High Holiday Special Programs
Be present at all Family Shabbat Services
Be the point person for the day-to-day running of our summer camp programs
Lead Youth Group, Jr. Youth Group and Hebrew High
Including programming and execution of activities
Maintain order and cleanliness of classrooms and art supplies
Keep track of supplies on hand
Request supplies as needed for events in collaboration with Education Director
Maintain safety and cleanliness of climbing equipment, gaga pit, and sports equipment
Hebrew Lessons on an as needed referral basis
Other duties as assigned

The Youth Leader will be responsible for engaging with youth and teens, bringing them into closer relationships with each other, with our congregational community and with Jewish people everywhere.
Have knowledge of Judaica and an interest in life-long Jewish learning
Believe and are committed to the moral development of youth
Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills. Can communicate sensitively and compassionately with individuals from various backgrounds and a wide range of ages.
Have a creative and inventive mind, a sense of humor and are unbound by convention
Are an engaging and confident public speaker
Have good time management skills and are adaptable to change
Feel comfortable working within and maintaining a budget
Are detail oriented
Exercise discerning judgement regarding the physical and emotional safety of children and youth
Have a flexible schedule allowing for evening meetings, weekend events and weekend trips.

Salary range is commesurate with Jewish education and experience. College education and 1-2 years experience working at camp and/or with Youth Groups preferred. This is a part time, hourly position with salary based on experience.
